H!P Profile – Natsumi Abe

abe-natsumi

Oh Nacchi!  Everyone should know this lady, she was one of the original five members to make up H!P XD.  Natsumi Abe is a legend to Morning Musume and was a face of them for quite a while (to the point that Furusato was “her” song).  She was always a lead somewhere in the song and even though many members became more popular than she had, she already made her mark by the time graduation came up in 2004 to focus on her solo career (which she begun a year earlier).  She also had some misfortune like plagiarizing, but that wasn’t too big of a deal right?  She’s done singles up to 2010 but has taken a break, but still be in the spotlight doing interviews and even coming together with already graduated members to form Dream Morning Musume!  At least until 2014 where Nacchi came back to music starting off with a self-cover album and a cover album altogether!

Style of Music: You know, Nacchi’s music was kind of like a softer mixture of both Gocchin and Ayaya’s sound.  You know light pop and R&B but not really going to stretch the outer limits of either…just kind of a safe middle for her and her light and airy vocals so it suited her well in the long run.

This is Nacchi’s official debut A-side (because she had a solo song that was on “Petit Best 1” and all).  It’s a peppy number and the collaboration between Nacchi and Keiko was really pleasant!

Of course this PV is of “Ameagari no Niji no You ni” which was Nacchi’s last single she’s released before going on her break.  It’s OK, but it feels like every single that Ayaya had released in her later years lol.

Other Things to Mention

-The only thing to really mention was that yes, in late 2004 she did have a plagiarizing incident with one of her songs “Nariyamai Tambourine” and she had to stop performing for a while…but said song is on her best album…odd right?

Overall: I have to say that Nacchi might have been light and airy for my tastes, but you can’t deny all that she’s put forth as an H!P member.  She’s very talented and she loves to do what she does.  I did miss her for quite a while and then she came back with a lighter sound that I was expecting.  Still has a lovely voice to this day!
